The violences in Assam
When innocent women and small children, even few months old, get killed, its no longer a rebel, its crime against humanity. How can anyone justify the killings of children and women?
The groups responsible for these acts should be named as terrorist groups and should be dealt with proper strikes and counter strikes both by the state machinery and the central forces. Socio and political pressure should be increased on the leadership, specially the Bodo political leaders, to take action against these militants.
We, as India, are always open to dialogues and negotiations with all factions and groups. But no dialogues could be successful until killings are stopped. Time has come to show our strength to these groups who think themselves as superior and sole owner of state. As per a news report, there are 20 or so ethnic groups and over 50 languages. We as a nation should not let a group of people ruin such rich ethnic diversity.
There are times when state is incapable of stopping violence on its people. Assam police forces are widespread and too thin to deal with this alone. Central forces should be deployed on a regular basis to defang the militants.
Social-media should take more participation to raise these issues and force government to take corrective action. Today Facebook and Twitter can form and destroy governments. We should use the power of “share”, “like” and “retweet” to show the plight of affected people and to show them that we are with them.
Most importantly our social structure should be made strong and tolerant to diversity. Youngsters should be taught the virtues of diversity. Such values should be put in them that they never resort to violence against innocent people.
No rationale, no cause can ever justify killing of children. We as a nation on doors of development should take these attacks seriously and take corrective actions before its too late.
