Ambition - In a new style of mine
Ambition, a word which creates an image in our ears;
Create image in Ears…have u gone mad?
Yes O’ dear friend, an image in our ears.
It may sound funny, but reality is bad, very bad.
So, where I was, yes, an image in our ears.
Why am I listening this, this person seems insane.
The image, which we keep imagining since childhood.
He seems to speak without thinking. He has lost his brains.
But mostly they are short term, or something materialistic.
Something like earning money, without any knowledge to what to do of it.
Short term, grrrr….it would be yours sir, not Mine.
Someone please stop his nonsense, or I would have a fit.
Or something like being a topper in an exam.
Being a topper in an exam is not a good ambition?
From which school you did your graduation Sir?
Or Ya!!! Why to forget, to get a promotion.
But then, they forget what their life has become.
They have forgotten the chirps of birds, the monkeys’ yell.
I don’t know about their lives, but you shut up.
Or else I am going to make your life a hell.
The sound of raindrops falling, the children playing.
The teenage gossips, the frightening stories of ghosts.
Ya ya I have forgotten them. So what? This person talks of ghosts.
Someone please, HE HE HE, show him the Ramgopal Verma’s doors.
The ears have lost track of all these sounds and more.
Again he talked of ears. Stop it! I have got many other works to do.
In the useless pursuit of misleading ambitions of money and power.
Who are you to tell us these? We’ll do whatever we wish to.
We must have better aims and goals in life.
Something that is worth and meaningful to us and our society.
Wow wow wow!!! Aims and goals, worth and meaningful.
This guy is getting philosophical, he’s using variety.
Or at least, something that may bring true happiness to all.
Some long term goals, and different short term desires.
Man, shut up! You are eating my brains now.
Let’s change topic. Do you like my today’s attire?
The ambitions must be clear. The goals should be defined.
Decide the path, and be little dynamic in your approach.
Don’t let the little hurdles stop or even disturb you.
Shut up! You are disturbing me, you big cockroach.
Always be focused at you final goal in life. Control how you listen.
Hear everything, but make your ear strong in visualizing things.
Make it decide which things to pass it, or which to get filtered out.
Ears visualizing things! You are must be God, not a common human being.
You wish to earn lots of money, but why? To establish an empire?
Or to make sure your dear ones could lead a decent life?
Or most common answer, you still don’t have any idea what to do?
Its too much now. Should I shoot you or cut your throat by a knife?
Ambitions are meant to give a meaning to your life.
Never compromise on it, or let it be cheap.
Keep your standards high. And lead a happy life.
What you sow is what you reap.
Your ambitions are your seeds. You put them in field of life.
The better the seeds, the more satisfying the results.
Have a steady head and live a healthy life.
It applies to all, whether you are a child or an adult.
And you, who kept on interrupting me.
You are always present in society to misguide others.
But those who learn to recognize you and beware of you.
Reach heights in life and emerge as winner.

Well, this is a new style I thought to use in my writing. The story goes on between two characters. One is an advisor. And second, the common listener from our daily lives. No matter how good advice the advisor is giving, the listener is not interested in hearing it. Moreover he tries to silence the advisor. This happens in real life too….doesn’t it?
But there is also a hidden theme in the story. Did you notice the advisor keeps on speaking ignoring the interrupter (the listener)? Similar should be our approach. We must not heed to detractors in life. We need to just concentrate on our goals and keep progressing towards it.
Also you would have hardly noticed another hidden fact---in most part of the story the Detractor is completing the rhyme and the Advisor just speaks in plain sentences.
----written on 10 July 2009, while sitting idle in office. I started around 7:15 pm and now its 8:56 pm. So you can understand how much of free time I had to give you a proper headache ;)
